How to: Sort files in a display.
Solution:
Select the 'View' menu, select 'Arrange Icons', and select a sort option.
1) Do one of the following, depending on whether you want to arrange files in 'My Computer' or in Windows Explorer:
2) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Arrange Icons'. (A submenu appears.)
3) Do one of the following:
View files by type
a) To sort and view files alphabetically, select 'by Name' from the submenu.
b) To sort and view files by type, select 'by Type' from the submenu.
c) To sort and view files by size, select 'by Size' from the submenu.
d) To sort and view files by date, select 'by Date' from the submenu.
4) (Optional) To change the way the information is displayed, select the 'View' menu and do one of the following:
a) To display the file and folder names as large icons, select 'Large Icons'.
b) To display the file and folder names as small icons, select 'Small Icons'.
c) To display the file and folder names as a list, without details, select 'List'.
d) To display the file and folder names as a list, with detailed information, select 'Details'.
NOTE: The settings for this window are saved when the window is closed and will remain the same each time the window is opened, until you change them again.
